—————————————-[1] 64 Bit Support[2] Changes to the way we charge for technical support

—————————————-[1] 64 Bit Support
—————————————-

We will be working throughout January 2015 on porting our components to the Windows 64 bit release of Studio 6.1. Our current understanding is that for most of our components all that is required is a few tweaks in addition to the rebuild with the 64 bit SDK, thus progress should be fairly rapid. We are less certain at this stage about the effort required to port PDFWriter and LDAP as these utilize the older version of the Omnis external SDK that is backward compatible with Omnis Classic. We will keep you informed as to the status of the PDFWriter and LDAP ports.

Through out these ports, we will be updating the table of progress on our main news page at
http://www.brainydata.co.uk/home/news.htm

If you are waiting for the 64 bit components, please refer to this table for information about completed ports and download links.

—————————————-[2] Changes to the way we charge for technical support
—————————————-

We have changed the way we charge for maintenance and technical support subscriptions. Until now we charged a single fee based on a percentage of the software license costs for a combined maintenance and technical support subscription. We are no longer able to sustain this model.

From January 2015 technical support subscriptions are now charged separately and in addition to the maintenance subscription fees. Technical support subscriptions are charged at £300 per registered person. This change allowed us to do three things

1. reduce the costs of entry level licenses (5 user developer/internal user combo license)
2. remove the minimum renewal value of £240 for maintenance subscriptions
3. maintain last year’s pricing for all remaining licenses and renewals

These changes mean that for Developers that do not require technical support in addition to a maintenance subscription: –
– lower value licenses and lower value maintenance renewals have become cheaper
– higher value licenses and renewals will remain at last years prices

Developers that do require a technical support subscription will experience a price increase this year, however, we feel that the new pricing structure better reflects the cost of providing the services for which you pay. If you have reservations about these changes, please contact us so we may discuss this further.
