* José Lacerda holds a Master’s degree in Management and Information Systems from the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo.
He began his professional journey in 1992, working with Borland C++ 3.1 and a user interface library called Turbo Vision. He developed ERP and Point of Sale (POS) software for MS-DOS. In 1996, José began working with Borland C++ Builder, leading the migration of legacy software from MS-DOS to Windows 95 and integrating SQL databases to modernize data management.
In 2000, still using C++ Builder, he initiated a new project in the field of Workplace Health and Safety, a solution that remains in use today across several Portuguese hospitals.
He joined a company called Macwin, back in 2003, where he began working with Omnis 3.2.1. The company specialized in ERP solutions for the textile industry, and José developed several core modules, including Accounting, Assets, POS, and Human Resources. To extend the capabilities of Omnis, he also developed custom DLLs in C++, enhancing the system’s functionality. This ERP system was successfully deployed in over 50 textile companies across northern Portugal.
In 2008, the company began implementing its ERP system in an online store called Prozis. The project was highly successful, and by 2010, Prozis and Macwin joined forces to form a new enterprise group. In 2017, the group sold its textile software division to an external company and rebranded from Macwin to Prozis.Tech.
Since then, Prozis.Tech has focused its development efforts exclusively on in-house solutions, covering nearly all areas of the company – including Accounting, Human Resources, Asset Management, Warehouse Management, Purchasing, Marketing, and various web services.
Since 2017, José has been working as a Core Software Engineer, developing and maintaining the foundational functionalities used by other teams across the company. He is also responsible for overseeing the use and implementation of Omnis Studio within the organization.
Currently, Prozis.Tech utilizes Omnis Studio 11.1 for desktop applications, web services, and JavaScript Client development. In specific cases, the team has already begun adopting Omnis Studio Now 11.2 to take advantage of its latest features and fixes.
The company has a dedicated team of over 20 Omnis developers, organized across four development teams, ensuring continuous innovation and support for its internal systems.
José lives with his wife and two children in Viana do Castelo, a charming and picturesque city in the northwest of Portugal, known for its rich history, good food and vibrant cultural heritage.
A passionate reader and avid book collector for over 30 years, José has also developed a deep interest in numismatics in recent years, a hobby he shares with his eldest son.
